Diagnostic Imaging

Computed Tomography

More commonly known as a CT scan or CAT scan, Computed Tomography combines x-rays and computers for a rapid, painless diagnostic examination. A CT scan allows a radiologist to pinpoint the location, nature and extent of trauma, disease or abnormality in a patient. In many cases, the image from a CT scan is improved by the intravenous administration of radiographic contrast material.

Radiology Associates of Wausau produces high quality CT scans with the least amount of radiation.  CT examinations can be performed on virtually any body part, from the head to the toes.

Some of the most common types of CT scans are:

  • Head CT
  • Chest CT
  • Abdomen and Pelvis CT
  • Cardiac CT
  • Spine CT

All CT scans are read immediately, and detailed reports are sent to your doctor. In October 2014, Radiology Associates of Wausau added a GE Revolution 256 slice CT scanner, the fastest and most advanced in the region.
